SpaceX contributes 50 Starlink kits to support Malaysia’s disaster preparedness

On a recent visit to Putrajaya, a delegation from SpaceX presented Malaysia with 50 Starlink kits to bolster the nation's disaster preparedness measures. During a courtesy call, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met with the SpaceX team, which also included Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil. The meeting aimed to explore ways to enhance strategic cooperation through Starlink, SpaceX's satellite internet service, with a focus on increasing network access in remote areas.

Anwar emphasized the importance of Starlink in expanding coverage and improving internet quality, particularly in rural regions of Sabah and Sarawak, as well as Orang Asli settlements in the peninsula. In a Facebook post, the Prime Minister highlighted the government's commitment to ensuring that technological advancements translate into tangible benefits for people. He also stressed the need to prioritize cybersecurity, data protection, and responsible internet usage as the country's internet access continues to grow.
