Second student arrested over death of assaulted Form Two boy in Kuala Pilah

Another 16-year-old student has been apprehended by police, increasing the count of suspects in the investigation into the death of a Form Two student in Kuala Pilah to two. Datuk Alzafny Ahmad, the Negeri Sembilan Police Chief, informed that the suspect is enrolled at the same institution and was brought before the Kuala Pilah Magistrate’s Court yesterday for a six-day remand until October 3 to aid the ongoing probe.

The police are conducting an exhaustive investigation, and a special task force has been established to assist in resolving the case, which is exploring potential causes of death, such as bullying. The post-mortem results remain inconclusive, and the police are awaiting the outcomes of chemical samples. So far, 68 witness statements have been recorded, with more witnesses expected to testify.

The incident occurred after Maghrib prayers on Friday when students were expected to be in their dormitories for study or "prep" sessions. The suspect allegedly called the victim to his room on the second floor of Block A and beat him multiple times with a rubber hose, striking various parts of his body. When the student's condition worsened, the dormitory warden was alerted, and the victim was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of death at the hospital or during the journey is yet to be determined. Additionally, several students from the school have come forward to the police, alleging they too had been bullied by the first suspect who has been detained. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, and a comprehensive inquiry is underway.
