ND, B-R, LHS advance, WHS falls

The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) tennis sectional took place on Tuesday at three locations. Three teams advanced to the final round in their respective matches, while one team was eliminated. In Loogootee, Barr-Reeve emerged victorious with a 5-0 win over Pike Central. Individual winners Eli Ash, Daniel Underwood, and Jaxson Knepp, along with Grant Armes and Kierson Lengacher, and Connor Stoll and Collin Graber, contributed to the team's perfect record.

The Loogootee Lions had a 3-2 win against Paoli in their opening match, with Cooper VanHoy securing a 6-1 and 6-2 victory at No. 1, Knox Jeffers with a 3-1 win, Carter Downey and Reed Brittain contributing to the 6-2 and 6-3 doubles win, while Grayson Kluesner fell 5-7 and 4-6, and Emmitt Graber and Gabe Walton lost a close match 6-7(5-7) and 3-6.

Loogootee and Barr-Reeve will compete in the finals on Wednesday at 5 p.m. North Daviess traveled to Linton and also advanced to the finals after a 3-2 win over Sullivan. The Cougars' individual champions Carson Loheider and Koen Stoll were instrumental in their 3-2 victory. In Vincennes Lincoln, WHS was defeated by South Knox with a score of 4-1.

WHS had a notable performance by Josh Meredith, who won 0-2 against Reid Hall, keeping him in the individual tournament. WHS lost the other four spots, with Caleb Bochie falling 6-2 and 6-3, Wyatt Barber losing 0-0, Leyton Welsh and Brody Armes dropping 6-4 and 6-1 at No. 1, and Owen Skomp and Alex Barber losing 6-4 and 6-1. In the other match at Vincennes Lincoln, Rivet edged Lincoln 3-2, with Carter Johnson remaining in the individual tournament for Lincoln.
