Knicks owner James Dolan, who previously hosted Trump for the team's NBA Finals Game 3, announced in June that the White House had invited the Knicks to visit, which the organization accepted. The White House confirmed its willingness to host the team at an unspecified future date. During Trump's tenure, the Golden State Warriors (twice), Toronto Raptors, Los Angeles Lakers, and Oklahoma City Thunder won championships but have not visited the White House.

Trump revoked an invitation to the Warriors in 2017 following concerns raised by Stephen Curry, while the Lakers declined due to scheduling and COVID-19 restrictions in 2020. The Thunder cited timing issues, and the Milwaukee Bucks, Warriors, and Boston Celtics had visited during Joe Biden's presidency. The Denver Nuggets declined an invitation to the White House after their 2023 title, reportedly due to scheduling conflicts and a desire to focus on securing the top seed in the playoffs.
