Ajman begins regulating shared accommodation in five residential areas

Ajman has initiated a pilot program to regulate shared accommodation in five residential neighborhoods. This initiative is part of the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department's initiatives to optimize building usage, ensure a secure residential environment, and enhance urban planning and quality of life in the emirate. The first five areas targeted for this experiment are Al Nuaimiya, Al Rashidiya, Al Nakheel, Liwara, and Al Rumaila.

Mohammed Abdulwahab Mustafa, the director of the Municipal Control and Inspection Department, explained that the objective of this project is to tackle issues related to bachelor and shared accommodation by establishing clear guidelines for residential occupancy. He emphasized that the program aims to strike a balance between the needs of various societal groups and urban planning requirements, employing a structured methodology to regulate and categorize buildings according to specific criteria and standards.

To acquaint real estate firms with the new policy on bachelor and shared accommodation, a workshop was organized. The event highlighted the initiative's objectives and priorities, and clarified the department's approved requirements and conditions for housing bachelors. Participants were also briefed on the concept of shared accommodation and its implementation.

The discussion tackled the challenges associated with bachelor accommodation and the solutions the department has devised to better regulate residential accommodation, improve adherence to approved standards, and enhance the urban and residential environment.

The workshop attendees were briefed about the pilot phase, the application procedure, and how to benefit from the new service. Real estate firms operating in Ajman were expected to acquaint themselves with the new regulations and utilize the new online platform to submit applications for bachelor and shared accommodation. The real estate companies participating in the workshop played a crucial role in engaging directly with stakeholders, allowing the department to address inquiries, clarify procedures, and requirements associated with the initiative.
