Ajman begins regulating bachelor and shared accommodation in five areas

Ajman has initiated a pilot phase to regulate bachelor and shared accommodation in select residential areas. This move is part of Ajman Municipality and Planning Department's strategy to optimize building usage, ensure a secure living environment, and elevate urban planning and residents' quality of life. The department has announced the commencement of the service in five districts, namely Al Nuaimiya, Al Rashidiya, Al Nakheel, Liwara, and Al Rumaila.

The trial will undergo evaluation prior to any further development or expansion. Mohammed Abdulwahab Mustafa, director of the Municipal Control and Inspection Department, explained that the initiative aims to tackle issues related to bachelor and shared accommodation by establishing transparent frameworks for residential occupancy.

The goal is to strike a balance between the needs of various societal groups and urban planning necessities, employing a systematic approach to regulate and categorize buildings in accordance with specific criteria and standards. A workshop was held to acquaint real estate firms with the new policy concerning bachelor and shared accommodation, outlining the initiative's objectives and priorities, and clarifying the Department's approved prerequisites and conditions for permitting bachelors to reside in buildings.

The session delved into the challenges associated with bachelor accommodation and the solutions devised by the Department to enhance the regulation of residential accommodation, ensure adherence to approved requirements, and improve the urban and residential landscape. Attendees were briefed on the pilot phase, the application procedure, and how to leverage the service.

Real estate companies operating in Ajman are expected to acquaint themselves with the new prerequisites and utilize the new online platform to submit applications for bachelor and shared accommodation. The workshop provided a platform for real estate companies to engage directly with stakeholders, enabling the Department to address inquiries and elucidate the procedures and requirements linked to the initiative.
