Warning about scam iPhone 18 deals that leave victims' bank accounts cleaned out

Scammers are using fake Arabic-language websites to sell discounted iPhone 18s, according to cyber security experts. The launch of Apple's new phone has led to long queues at Dubai Mall for the device. Kaspersky, a cyber security firm, has discovered sites offering the iPhone 18 at a 25% discount with installment payments and Bitcoin options.

These fake websites have a convincing interface to deceive users, who are tricked into providing personal information, including bank account details, email addresses, and phone numbers. The goal is to empty victims' bank accounts. Olga Altukhova, a senior web content analyst at Kaspersky, stated that consumer excitement around high-profile device launches can benefit cybercriminals.

The fake sites offer pre-order options for iPhones in various colors and storage capacities, with full refunds promised. To avoid scams, Kaspersky advises checking website authenticity, using virtual cards or dedicated payment services, and avoiding deals that seem too good to be true or differ from Apple's official announcements.
