Warning about scam iPhone 18 deals that leave victims' bank accounts cleaned out

Scammers are targeting iPhone 18 buyers with fake websites offering the device at a 25% discount, according to cyber security experts. These fraudulent sites, found in multiple languages including Arabic, English, and Portuguese, appear to be legitimate sales outlets. Victims are reportedly enticed to provide personal information, including bank account details, in exchange for the discounted iPhone.

Kaspersky, a cyber security firm, warns that these sites use convincing interfaces to trick users. Olga Altukhova, a senior web content analyst at Kaspersky, notes that consumers' excitement over new device releases can make them more vulnerable to these scams. The fake websites claim to offer pre-order options, different colors, and storage capacities not officially announced by Apple.

Full refunds are also promised. To avoid falling victim, Kaspersky advises checking website authenticity, using dedicated payment methods, and being wary of offers that seem too good to be true or differ from official Apple announcements. The official pricing for the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max starts at Dh5,099 and Dh5,499, respectively.
