Teachers’ strike: ‘It’s an illegality for PRETAG to participate in negotiations’ – Hopeson Adorye

United Party Director Hopeson Adorye has raised concerns over Pre-Tertiary Education Teachers Association of Ghana (PRETAG) participating in talks with the Education Ministry and Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) on teachers' conditions. Adorye argues that PRETAG should not be deemed a legitimate party in the negotiations until its recent name change from Concerned Teachers Coalition (CCT) is recognized by the relevant authorities.

This change, he claims, is currently before the courts, making PRETAG's involvement in the negotiations questionable. Adorye further questioned the legality of PRETAG's participation, suggesting that participation in the negotiations might be considered an illegal act. He also encouraged stakeholders and teachers to verify their payslips to ascertain whether the union dues for August were deducted in the name of CCT or PRETAG, urging them to ensure that the proper steps are taken regarding the name change.
