Senate urges FG to rescue abducted victims, protect vulnerable communities

The Senate reconvened on Tuesday to demand increased efforts in rescuing kidnapped Nigerians and safeguard communities under threat. President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, underscored the chamber's commitment to tackling insecurity, flooding, and rising living costs. He urged the Federal Government and security forces to step up rescue operations and implement additional measures to address the crisis.

Akpabio emphasized that leaving citizens vulnerable was unacceptable, stating that the safety of lives was a collective responsibility. He expressed deep concern over the abduction of Nigerians by armed groups, asserting that sympathy alone was insufficient. The Senate President highlighted the need for the government to take decisive action, stressing that the protection of lives was a charge laid upon every institution of government.
