Pochettino: We lived through period of deception if Man City guilty

Former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has expressed sorrow if Manchester City is found guilty of breaching financial regulations. The Premier League revealed on Friday that City had been convicted on the majority of 115 charges, prompting speculation about potential severe sanctions such as relegation and title stripping.

The governing body has yet to announce any potential punishments or City's right to appeal. Pochettino, who managed Spurs from 2014 to 2019 and Chelsea in 2023-24, told the Guardian that the period of alleged deception distorted the perception of sports integrity. He stated, "We went through something where sporting fairness didn’t exist, so how do you repair everything that was damaged because of that?"

Pochettino emphasized that no punishment could fully rectify the "damage" inflicted, adding, "It’s done a lot of damage. At the end of the day, many clubs followed the rules and some didn’t." City's chairman, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, remains confident of their innocence, while chief executive Ferran Soriano said the club will continue to contest the ruling.
