Man City’s Premier League charges: What’s the latest and what comes next?

U.S. coach Mauricio Pochettino expressed sadness over what he perceives as a lack of "sporting justice" in the case against Manchester City, following reports that the club has been found guilty of almost all 115 charges of financial breaches. Pochettino managed Tottenham during the period between 2009 and 2018 when these alleged rule-breaking activities took place.

During his tenure, Tottenham emerged as a title contender in English soccer despite having a smaller budget. The Premier League, which has not officially confirmed the verdict, is believed to have been handed down by an independent commission following a lengthy legal process. Pochettino expressed his concern over the fairness of the situation, stating, "If it's true that the 114 rules were broken, then we lived through a period of deception."

He suggested that whatever the punishment ultimately is, it will be difficult to undo the damage that has been done. Earlier this month, Pochettino had called for Chelsea to be stripped of their 2016-17 Premier League title due to a total of 74 breaches of FA regulations. Chelsea ended up receiving a £10 million fine and a suspended two-window transfer ban.

Pochettino noted that while most clubs followed the rules during this time, some did not. He questioned the potential outcomes, such as financial penalties or point deductions, expressing uncertainty and sadness over the period where "sporting justice didn't exist."
