Oguntola's tenure with The Nation newspaper, including seven years as Online Editor, has equipped him with extensive knowledge in newsroom management, digital publishing, and online journalism. His expertise was further honed through participation in international journalism training programs, including a workshop at the Reuters Institute.

Oguntola, who will serve as Editor-in-Chief of NaijaGoodNews, emphasized the platform's mission to counterbalance the prevailing narrative around Nigeria, which often emphasizes challenges and negative developments. He expressed frustration at the negative portrayal of Nigeria in the news, stating that the news space is replete with negativity about Nigeria, leading many to believe that nothing good is happening in the country.
