Kalyan Police Seize MD Powder Worth ₹10 Lakh, Arrest 22-Year-Old In Narcotics Case; Two Suspects Absconding

In Kalyan, the Mahatma Phule police have made a significant arrest in connection with the alleged sale of the narcotic substance mephedrone (MD). A 22-year-old man, Mohammed Saad Ashfaque Bagwan from Joshibaug, has been apprehended for possession with the intent to sell. The police seized around ₹10 lakh worth of white-coloured MD powder and cash from his custody.

Senior Police Inspector Baliramsingh Pardeshi revealed that the accused was allegedly involved in the possession of the drug for sale purposes. A case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and he is currently in custody.

The police are now probing the source of the seized narcotics and investigating the network through which the drug was allegedly supplied. They are also looking into the roles of two suspects, Irfan Qureshi and Hasan, who have gone missing and are wanted in connection with the case. The investigation aims to establish any wider network connected to the seized contraband. Authorities are questioning the arrested accused to gather more information on the broader supply chain of the narcotics in the Kalyan-Dombivli region.
