Ambernath Crime: Police Seize ₹94 Lakh Worth Of Mephedrone, Arrest 4 In Alleged Drug Supply Network

Ambernath West Police have arrested a Nigerian national and seized 413 grams of mephedrone worth approximately Rs 94 lakh, as part of a major crackdown on drug trafficking in the area. This comes just a month after another significant drug bust in Ambernath, indicating the police's persistent focus on the alleged supply and distribution network in and around the city.

The investigation began following the arrest of Fakhruddin Shaikh and Asif Shaikh in a previous case involving the possession of around Rs 11.60 lakh worth of the drug. During questioning, the two allegedly identified Shanu, also known as Shahnawaz Qureshi, as their supplier. Further investigation revealed that Qureshi was procuring the drug from a Nigerian national.

Based on this information, a special team from Ambernath West Police, led by Police Inspector Subhash Pansare, tracked the suspected supplier to Taloja, situated along the Mumbra-Panvel highway. The Nigerian national, Philip Adubuike, was subsequently arrested, and the drugs worth Rs 94 lakh were seized. Police are now probing the source of the drugs and the suspect's alleged connections with other individuals operating in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

They are also investigating whether the accused is part of a larger network supplying the drug to local dealers in Ambernath and surrounding areas. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone IV, Sachin Gore, stated that the police are actively pursuing the investigation to determine the origin of the narcotics and identify Qureshi's associates in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

The accused was brought before a court, which remanded him to five days of police custody until October 2. Further questioning is expected to focus on the source of the consignment, the intended recipients, and the wider network allegedly involved in its distribution.
