GCIOBA, ipNX install broadband for 2,250 students, staff

The Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association, in collaboration with Nigerian ICT company ipNX Nigeria Limited, has successfully installed a comprehensive broadband infrastructure at the institution. This project grants access to high-speed internet to more than 2,250 students and staff members at Government College Ibadan, significantly enhancing the quality of teaching and learning.

The partnership, led by the GCIOBA North America branch, is part of ipNX's corporate social responsibility strategy and includes the deployment of a fibre backbone connecting 29 buildings, along with wireless connectivity in each of these buildings. Speaking at the 2026 GCIOBA Lagos Branch Annual Luncheon, GCIOBA President Wale Babalakin emphasized the commitment of the Old Boys to preparing students for a global future.

Group Managing Director of ipNX Nigeria Limited, Ejovi Aror, highlighted the importance of digital infrastructure in education, stating that the project is a long-term investment in Nigeria's future. The event also honored two posthumous merit awards to GCI Ibadan Old Boys, Dr. Burian Carew and Dr. Blackie Aror, for their contributions to Nigeria's technology and educational landscape.
