Crown prince chairs cabinet session, approves 11 decisions

On Tuesday, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with UAE Vice President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Riyadh, according to Saudi official media. This occurred months after the two nations experienced a significant rift over the situation in Yemen. The meeting takes place amid recent attacks by Yemen's Houthi rebels against Saudi interests, including tankers, oil facilities, airports, and the capital city. Riyadh has been reaching out to international allies for assistance in combating the Houthi threat.

During their discussion, the two leaders reviewed their bilateral relations and regional developments, with the Saudi Press Agency confirming the attendance of Saudi Defence Minister Khalid bin Salman. The conflict began in December when Riyadh accused Abu Dhabi of jeopardizing national security by backing southern Yemeni separatists who launched an offensive in government-controlled areas.

However, by July, officials from both Saudi Arabia and the UAE began sharing messages on social media expressing friendship and unity, indicating a potential reconciliation.

In July, the civil war in Yemen reignited when the Houthis launched a new campaign against Saudi-led government forces, capturing significant territory and targeting Saudi soil. The group has also imposed a maritime blockade on Saudi ships in the Red Sea. Since then, Riyadh has been conducting strikes against the Houthis while simultaneously seeking support from international allies.

The ongoing tensions between Saudi Arabia and the UAE span various foreign policy issues, including Yemen, Sudan, and the Horn of Africa, where both nations have supported opposing factions.
