Avoid the F1 rush: AirAsia advises extra KLIA travel time Oct 2-4

Kuala Lumpur, September 29 — In anticipation of the Formula 1 race weekend at Sepang International Circuit from October 2 to 4, AirAsia has advised passengers traveling through Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 to extend their travel preparations. The airline states that heightened passenger volumes and increased traffic may cause delays.

To accommodate this, AirAsia recommends that passengers arrive at the airport three hours prior to international flights and two hours prior to domestic flights. AirAsia urges all passengers, including those with group bookings, to utilize the AirAsia MOVE app or its website for self-check-in, which is accessible from 14 days to one hour before the flight's scheduled departure.

The airline also notes that check-in counters are set aside for passengers who need assistance due to reduced mobility or other special requirements. Additionally, Malaysian citizens traveling internationally are encouraged to use the MyNIISe or MyBorderPass apps to streamline the immigration clearance process at KLIA Terminal 2.

AirAsia suggests that passengers use the Express Rail Link (ERL) for efficient and dependable public transportation to KLIA2. Passengers are also urged to monitor traffic advisories and road closure updates from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and adjust their routes as needed. AirAsia advises that travelers should allocate extra time for their journey to the airport due to the expected congestion around KLIA Terminal 2 and the Sepang International Circuit during the race weekend.
