Avoid the F1 rush: AirAsia advises extra KLIA travel time Oct 2-4

AirAsia has issued a travel advisory for passengers passing through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 2, as the airport will experience heavier traffic and increased passenger volumes during the Formula 1 race weekend from October 2 to 4. The airline recommends that travelers should plan to arrive at the airport earlier than usual.

For international flights, guests are advised to be at the airport at least three hours before their scheduled departure, while domestic flights require a two-hour arrival window. AirAsia encourages all passengers to utilize the AirAsia MOVE app or website for self-check-in, which is available from 14 days up to one hour prior to departure.

Check-in counters are designated for passengers with reduced mobility and other special assistance needs. Malaysian citizens traveling internationally are advised to use the MyNIISe or MyBorderPass app to simplify immigration clearance at KLIA Terminal 2. The airline also suggests using the Express Rail Link (ERL) for convenient public transport access to KLIA.

Passengers are advised to stay informed about traffic advisories, road closures, and alternative routes from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to navigate the congestion expected on major routes leading to both KLIA Terminal 2 and the Sepang International Circuit.
