AIIB has potential to support Gulf connectivity and integration projects

Doha, Qatar - The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) holds significant potential to support connectivity and integration projects among the Gulf states, according to Qatar's Minister of Finance, H E Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari. Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Minister Al Kuwari highlighted the importance of expanding the bank's contributions to development initiatives in Qatar and the wider region.

At the AIIB's 11th Annual Meeting of Board of Governors, which took place in Doha, over 1,000 participants gathered, including more than 48 ministers from around the world. This marked the highest attendance in the bank's history, underscoring the global confidence in Qatar's leadership and the institution itself.

Qatar's hosting of the AIIB meeting reflected the nation's standing on the international stage, Minister Al Kuwari noted, emphasizing Qatar's long-standing role as a founding member since 2015. He affirmed that Qatar remains a steadfast supporter of the bank's diverse portfolio, which includes financing development projects, climate change initiatives, and other global projects.

The high-level participation of officials and decision-makers at the gathering served as a testament to Qatar's influential position and the international trust it commands. Minister Al Kuwari assured that Qatar's capacity to host major economic, financial, and sporting events further solidifies its status as an international hub, bolstering its relevance on the global events calendar.
