Finance Minister engages AGI, leaders ahead of 2027 Budget

On Friday, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the Finance Minister of Ghana, met with the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and prominent industry executives to discuss preparations for the upcoming 2027 Budget. Dr Forson encouraged businesses to invest with confidence, vowing that the government would maintain the progress made in stabilizing the economy.

He asserted, "Feel free to invest because we will sustain the gains. The golden era for Ghana is beginning." This statement came as part of the government's economic transformation blueprint, which would be unveiled in the 2027 Budget. The strategic plan aims to transition the country from a stable economic state to a phase of growth and development.

The blueprint includes a significant $10 billion investment in key sectors over the next four years. This investment will focus on boosting production, encouraging value addition, expanding exports, and generating employment opportunities. Dr Forson also promised to further reduce the cost of capital, urging businesses to contribute to domestic revenue mobilization efforts.

These efforts are aimed at decreasing excessive government borrowing. Kofi Nsiah-Poku, the President of the AGI, expressed his appreciation for the government's economic stabilization efforts. He emphasized that the next critical step should be fostering industrial growth and creating more jobs.
