Women shot dead at Plateau mining site

Three women were killed and another person injured when gunmen attacked a mining site in Rakum community of Plateau State on Monday, according to local reports. The gunmen reportedly stormed the site around 4:30pm and opened fire on workers, killing the women and injuring another person before fleeing the scene. The incident is the latest in a series of attacks that have raised tensions in the region, with dozens of farmers and herders reportedly killed in separate incidents in Mangu, Barkin Ladi, and Bokkos.

The government has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in response to the violence. The Berom Youth Moulders-Association confirmed the attack, calling for security forces to apprehend the perpetrators. A local community member also confirmed the incident, expressing concern over the safety of people working and living in the area. The state government has urged residents to remain calm and peaceful while it works with security agencies to protect lives and property.
