Ukraine mobile operator Kyivstar HQ damaged in Russian strike, no casualties reported

Ukrainian mobile giant Kyivstar suffered damage to its headquarters building on Dehtiarivska Street in Kyiv's Shevchenkivsky district following a Russian strike on Sunday. Kyivstar's press service informed Interfax-Ukraine that none of the company's employees were injured. Prior to this incident, Kyivstar had been targeted in previous attacks; for instance, on September 11, a drone attack obliterated the company's engineering team's office at the same location.

Furthermore, on September 17, another building housing Kyivstar's equipment in the Kyiv region came under attack.

In the first half of 2026, Kyivstar experienced a notable revenue surge, with figures rising by 29.1% compared to the same period in 2025, totaling UAH 28.9 billion. In dollar terms, the growth amounted to 22.8%, reaching $662 million. EBITDA profit also saw an increase of 24.5%, hitting UAH 15.8 billion, or a 17.8% boost, reaching $361 million. However, the total number of Kyivstar subscribers decreased by 2.8% in the second quarter of 2026, compared to the same quarter in 2025, settling at 21.8 million.

On September 1, Kyivstar made the strategic decision to merge regional fixed broadband internet provider Lan Trace LLC, which it had acquired in 2024 for a mere $2 million. As reported by YouControl, Lan Trace's revenue in the first half of the year saw a modest 2.7% increase, amounting to UAH 21.11 million. Meanwhile, the net profit of Lan Trace soared 6.4-fold, reaching UAH 3.35 million.
