Three arrested over alleged kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old in Accra

Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere in Accra, according to the Ghana Police Service. The arrests followed an investigation by the Police Missing Persons Unit, which began after Kyere went missing on September 22. The suspects, identified as Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams, and Josiah Obodai, were reportedly identified through their confessions and the evidence collected during the investigation.

Kyere was last seen leaving his residence in Kokomlemle on September 19, and police believe he was lured to the residence of Tefe at Teshie Agbleza by Osei Adams. Tefe allegedly attacked Kyere with a metallic object, and Kyere was subsequently moved to another room where he died. His body was reportedly transported to a location near the motorway, where it was dumped and set ablaze.

The partially burned body was discovered on September 21, and Kyere's biological mother and an uncle formally identified his remains. The police also recovered Kyere's iPhone 12, which was allegedly sold by Tefe for GH¢100; the alleged buyer, Sunday Omeje, has been detained on suspicion of dishonestly receiving the phone. Further investigations led to the arrest of Josiah Obodai, who is suspected of being connected with the disposal of Kyere's body.

The police have impounded a Kia Morning belonging to Obodai's father, believed to have been used to transport the body. The three suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be brought before the court as investigations continue. The Ghana Police Service emphasized that their investigation aims to identify and apprehend any other individuals involved in the case.
