Security forces kill 4 terrorists in Dera Ismail Khan IBO: state media

Security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation in Dera Ismail Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Monday, resulting in the killing of four terrorists, according to state-run APP. The deceased were associated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), referred to by the state as Fitna-al-Khawarij. The operation was carried out following close intelligence surveillance of the terrorists' movements, reported APP.

The security personnel recovered a significant amount of weapons, ammunition, and Afghan currency from the slain individuals, stated sources. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been grappling with terrorist attacks and security challenges for an extended period. In August, the province recorded 54 terrorist incidents, a 50% increase from the 36 attacks in July, as per data from the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS).

Recently, on Saturday, a suicide blast targeting a police checkpost in Dera Ismail Khan’s Darazinda tehsil killed twelve people and injured thirty-five others. Earlier this month, police thwarted a TTP attack on a checkpost in Daraban area, resulting in no casualties among the police. On September 18, a major attack in the old Police Lines of Kohat claimed 23 lives and injured around 100 others, with eight terrorists losing their lives during the clearance operation.
