Russian strike on Zaporizhzhia injures 30, including three rail workers seriously wounded

Russian forces struck the National Academy of Sciences building in Kyiv on Monday, resulting in several fatalities, Ukrainian Ambassador Valeriy Zaluzhny reported. The Ambassador, who knew several of the victims personally, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life, emphasizing that the aggressor has committed "every conceivable and inconceivable crime against humanity."

Zaluzhny vowed that the National Academy of Sciences would be rebuilt, but mourned the deaths of those who could not be brought back. A fire erupted on the upper floors of the building following the strike, leading to a rescue operation. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that three children were among the injured.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that a woman was among the victims, a claim later clarified to be an assistant to former National Security and Defense Council Chairman Volodymyr Horbulin, who is also reported to be injured. The Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language confirmed that two academicians were killed and several others remain missing as a result of the Russian attack.
