A 43-year-old laborer, Ng Peng Kim, has been sentenced to seven years and three months in prison by the George Town Sessions Court after pleading guilty to attempting a robbery using a firearm, which occurred last Thursday. The presiding judge, Irwan Suainbon, imposed the sentence on the defendant on the same day. The accused was charged with attempting to commit a serious assault resulting in injury to a man at a repair shop on Anson Road in the northeastern part of the city on September 21st at 4:38 PM.

The charges were brought under Section 394 of the Penal Code, which carries a prison sentence of up to 20 years and a fine or fine. Ng was accused of attempting to commit the robbery when the complainant was present at the scene with a revolver, aiming to cause injury to the victim's right hand. The prosecution's legal representative, Lee Jun Keong, had requested a heavy sentence to deter the offender, considering the victim's injury and to warn the community that violent robbery must be eradicated.

The defendant, without a lawyer, requested a lenient sentence due to his custody of a 22-year-old son and asked for forgiveness for his mistake. In a separate case, Ong Kah Meng, a chef at a sushi restaurant, pleaded not guilty to four charges of breach of trust involving RM19,361 in cash in February and July last year. For the first charge, he was accused of committing a criminal breach of trust, RM9,603, at a restaurant on Gat Lebuh Acheh on July 24th at 3 PM.

He was accused of misconduct under Section 406 of the Penal Code, which allows for a prison sentence of up to 10 years, fine, and fine, if found guilty. Lee offered a RM15,000 bond with a co-defendant and an additional condition to surrender his passport to the court, but the defendant's lawyer requested a reduced bond due to having dependent parents.

Suainbon then granted the defendant a bond of RM8,000 with a co-defendant and allowed additional conditions. In the separate trial, Ong was charged with the same offenses involving RM1,601, RM7,057, and RM1,100 from February 12th to July 23rd last year. The deputy prosecution, Anuarul Hakim Abdul Muen, offered a RM45,000 bond for the three charges and additional conditions, including monthly reporting to the nearest police station and surrendering his passport to the court until the case is closed.

Judge Juraidah Abbas then set a RM15,000 bond for the three charges with a co-defendant, allowing all additional conditions. All cases were scheduled for dismissal and document surrender on October 27th.
