Pemergian Hasmah dihujani penghormatan, ucapan takziah

Dr Hasmah Ali's passing at the National Heart Institute (IJN) earlier today was met with tributes and expressions of condolence from various quarters, including leaders, as they remembered her kindness, gentleness, and significant contributions to the nation. The Deputy Prime Minister, Zahid Hamidi, recalled Hasmah's life alongside Mahathir for several decades, highlighting her dedication as a doctor and her concern for public welfare.

Her softness, simplicity, and strength throughout her life made her a beloved person and a role model for the Malaysian people. May Allah SWT forgive her sins, accept all her charitable deeds, and place her spirit among the righteous. I also pray for the strength and resilience of Tun Dr Mahathir and his entire family as they cope with this immense loss, he said in a Facebook post.

Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad noted that Hasmah was not only a respected medical figure but also a pioneer in promoting public health care, especially maternal and child health, family health, and community well-being. "The contributions she made to medical professionals, public health, and societal development will be remembered by future generations," he stated, as reported by Berita Harian during his address at the Poly-Tech Mara Meru, Perak.

MCA President Wee Ka Siong praised Hasmah for dedicating most of her life to serving the nation, adding that her presence and contributions touched the lives of many and she will be remembered with great respect and affection by the Malaysian people. Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman remembered Hasmah as a kind, humorous, compassionate, and wise person born from a life filled with love, sacrifice, and experience.

She passed away at around 9:25 am today, with her body brought to her home in The Mines, Seri Kembangan, Selangor at 10:48 am. She was a doctor who utilized her position as the First Lady to advocate for maternal health, family planning, literacy, drug abuse prevention, and mental health.
