Radio, TV diarah ubah program tanda penghormatan buat Hasmah

The Communications Minister, Fahmi Fadzil, honored the late Dr Hasmah Ali with a last tribute at her family residence, The Mines, on the same day she passed away at the National Heart Institute (IJN) at 9.25 in the morning. All radio and television stations nationwide were instructed to alter their programs throughout the day in her memory.

Fahmi Fadzil stated that the directive came in light of Dr Hasmah's passing. The government also acknowledged her contributions as a mother and a doctor who had greatly benefited society. "She has left an indelible impression on many people with her service as a mother and a doctor who will always be remembered," he told journalists after the final tribute at her family residence.

Fahmi Fadzil, also sharing personal memories, recalled his school days when he prepared a drama performance with friends, which was witnessed by Dr Hasmah. These early memories are among the earliest he has of Dr Hasmah, who was also the late Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's wife. Dr Hasmah breathed her last at the age of 100 at the IJN. Her remains were then taken to her family residence in The Mines Residence, Seri Kembangan, and laid to rest at the National Stadium, Presint 20, Putrajaya later that day.
