Pakistan Wins Gold at Chess Olympiad

Pakistan claimed victory in gold at the 46th FIDE Chess Olympiad held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The country's performance in Category D was exceptional, finishing at the top and accumulating 12 match points and 162 game points. This accomplishment marked a significant step up for Pakistan, as it improved its overall ranking by 29 places during the tournament.

The team's triumph was a result of triumphs against Seychelles, San Marino, the Cayman Islands, and El Salvador, coupled with draws against Egypt and Yemen. However, they faced setbacks against Colombia and South Africa.

The Chess Olympiad, a biennial event, is one of the most prestigious gatherings in the international chess community, featuring teams from nearly 200 countries. Upon their return, the Pakistan delegation proudly raised the national Green Crescent flag at the venue, with officials and officials celebrating their outstanding performance.

Syed Zeeshan Ali Naqvi, President of the Chess Federation of Pakistan, expressed his pride in the players' hard work, determination, and fighting spirit. He encouraged them to continue representing the country with the same passion in future competitions.
