New health training facility at Ampoma-Jema to address admission shortfalls, but Minister flags missing amenities

A new health training facility is being built from the ground up between Ampoma and Jema in Ghana's Bono East Region, with Regional Minister Francis Owusu expressing confidence that the project will greatly enhance health training education regionally and nationally. When finished, the facility aims to tackle the ongoing issue of limited admissions in health training institutions, a problem that has long frustrated aspiring health professionals in the area.

During his regional tour, Mr. Owusu discussed the project's potential to expand access to health training education and boost the production of qualified health professionals in the region. The construction is moving swiftly, with various stages of completed buildings. However, the Regional Minister noted that the project lacks dining and toilet facilities, calling them significant gaps that must be addressed prior to the facility's full operation.

He instructed the consultant to inform the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) and submit a review of the project's scope to the government.

The Minister's intervention aims to ensure the facility is fully equipped with all necessary amenities upon completion. District Chief Executive for the area, Wilfred Zuria, thanked the government for the project, emphasizing its potential to significantly benefit the community and the region. He assured that the Assembly would continue to support the project to ensure its timely completion.

The construction of this new health training facility is viewed as a significant step towards resolving the shortage of health professionals in Bono East Region and across the country, as limited intake capacity has long been a challenge in health education. As construction continues, residents and stakeholders will be closely monitoring the situation to determine whether the government adequately addresses the lack of dining and toilet facilities.
