Stockholm, Sweden - Opposition leader Magdalena Andersson claims her center-left coalition's recent parliamentary victory doesn't grant her the ability to form a government, according to her own statements. At a press conference on Monday, she informed the Parliament's president that forming a government is currently impossible.

This predicament stems from the left-wing party's announcement last weekend supporting a liberal-conservative Moderate Party candidate, Ulf Kristersson, for the position of Parliament president. This move undermines her efforts to form a government, explained Andersson, who takes the party's message seriously.

Andersson's assessment is based on discussions she's had, leading her to believe that her current capacity for government formation is lacking. The Parliament president will now decide whom to appoint with the task of government formation. The Moderate Party incumbent, Ulf Kristersson, is a potential contender. In the recent parliamentary election at the beginning of the month, the center-left coalition secured 176 seats, giving them a narrow majority.

The center-right bloc, led by Kristersson, earned 173 mandates. The election was heavily influenced by Kristersson's announcement of readiness to form a coalition with the right-wing populist Sweden Democrats.
