LASEMA records multiple emergency operations across Lagos

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has reported numerous emergency operations throughout Lagos from Friday to Sunday. The agency shared this information in a statement signed by its Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, on Sunday. During this time period, LASEMA deployed emergency response teams, paramedics, and heavy-duty equipment to manage various incidents and restore roadways.

On Friday morning, an incident involving a broken-down containerized truck at Palm Avenue Bus Stop, inward Oye, was reported. The Eagle Team managed traffic and redirected vehicles while the Super Metro recovered the truck, allowing for the resumption of traffic flow.

Later that day, another containerized truck incident occurred at Ojuwoye Bus Stop, inward Oshodi, following an electrical fault. The Alpha Eagle Team secured the scene and managed traffic while the truck was recovered and moved to a safe location using the Super Metro.

On Saturday morning, a road traffic accident at Otedola, Mobil inward Berger, involved a Ford Escape SUV and a moving truck. Tiger Squad from C3 arrived at the scene, found that the SUV had collided with the truck, and resulted in injuries to the male driver and female passenger. Paramedics from LASEMA and LASAMBUS provided immediate pre-hospital care before transporting the victims to the Trauma Centre for further treatment.

The incident was also managed by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LASTMA) and the Nigeria Police Force, with the affected vehicles being moved to Isheri Police Station for further action.

Throughout the weekend, LASEMA responded to multiple incidents, including a mechanical fault at Olorunshogo Bus Stop, inward Cappa, and a fire outbreak at Bakare Street, Ojodu Berger. In the latter incident, the Tiger Squad and Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service successfully contained the fire, preventing it from spreading to other shops. The agency provided technical support for the safe installation of a billboard at Fagba Bus Stop, inward Iju, on Saturday evening.

LASEMA's Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed that all operations had been concluded and the affected roads had been restored. The agency remains committed to responding promptly and professionally to emergencies across Lagos, urging road users to comply with safety regulations and maintain their vehicles properly.
