JAMB restores CAPS, sets admission deadlines for 2026/2027

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has reinstated its Central Admissions Processing System, CAPS, following a brief interruption. In a statement released on Monday, JAMB announced that the system is now fully functional and urged candidates to urgently accept the admission offers they have received. The board emphasized that tertiary institutions must expedite their admission processes to make up for the time lost during the disruption and adhere to the set deadlines for the upcoming academic session of 2026/2027.

Public universities must finalize their admission exercises by October 31, 2026, private universities by November 30, 2026, and other institutions by December 31, 2026. JAMB also advised candidates who are eagerly awaiting their examination results to update their credentials as soon as the 2026 National Examinations Council, NECO, Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) outcomes are published.

The organization expressed regret for the inconvenience caused by the temporary CAPS disruption and acknowledged the patience and understanding of candidates and other stakeholders. CAPS, an electronic platform managed by JAMB, facilitates the admission process into Nigerian tertiary institutions, enabling institutions to recommend candidates for admission while allowing candidates to monitor and accept the offers they receive.
