FBR Revises Tax on Aluminum Imports From India

The Directorate General of Customs Valuation in Karachi has revised the tax on aluminum imports from India and China, according to a new customs ruling. This decision, Valuation Ruling No. 2108 of 2026, supersedes the previous ruling, No. 819 of 2016. The Directorate conducted a fresh valuation examination to account for current international prices, import trends, and other pertinent factors.

Importers were notified to present their perspectives and supporting documents. During the consultations, importers contended that the current customs values were lower than prevailing international prices, while their declared import values were higher, reflecting present international market prices. They requested reassessment using import data from the past 90 days and current international price trends.

The Directorate subsequently requested importers to submit supporting documents, including invoices, contracts, price lists, and other verifiable evidence for evaluation during the reassessment. After applying the prescribed valuation methods, the Directorate established the new customs values based on the most suitable and reliable information available.
