Doo, Ng win sole table tennis medal at Asian Games

Hong Kong's table tennis team concluded their Asian Games participation on a positive note by securing a bronze medal in women's doubles. Doo Hoi-kem and Pedrey Ng emerged victorious in the final, defeating Thailand's pair in a closely contested match. The duo's journey to the bronze began in the semifinals, where they were defeated 0-4 by Japan's top-ranked women's doubles team, Hina Hayata and Miwa Harimoto.

Despite a strong start, where they led by four points, the Japanese duo managed to recover, winning the subsequent games 11-6, 11-5, and 11-4. Although Doo and Ng managed to lead briefly in the fourth game, the Japanese team's dominance was evident as they secured the match 11-6. Consequently, Doo and Ng shared their bronze with the Thai pair, who had lost to the other semifinalists.

In an interview, Ng expressed her delight at securing a medal, highlighting the unexpected nature of her achievement. She also credited her strong partnership with Doo for her performance, stating that their friendship had significantly enhanced their doubles play.
