Stock car driver, 18, inspired by dad in world bid

Brooke Kitson, an 18-year-old driver hailing from March in Cambridgeshire, has made history by qualifying for the BriSCA F1 Stock Car World Championships despite her bid being cut short. The teenage racer was one of two female competitors in the male-dominated sport, which took place at Northampton's Shaleway track on Saturday.

Kitson expressed her emotions, stating that she was "gutted" to only manage three or four laps before her crash and flat tyre ended her hopes. However, she emphasized that participating in such a prestigious event was a "really great thing."

The young driver credits her father, Daz Kitson, a former F2 world champion who has twice claimed the title, as her inspiration to enter the sport. Despite being the youngest woman to qualify for the world title event, Kitson remained optimistic about her future in this challenging sport. She expressed her excitement about the experience and hopes to improve her performance in future races.
