Abgeordnetenhauswahl: Berliner Linke, Grüne und SPD sprechen ab Donnerstag

In Berlin, the Social Democratic Party (SPD), the Green Party, and the Left Party (Linke) have agreed to begin discussions on forming a government on Thursday. However, they stress that these talks will not initially be exploratory but rather a "joint preliminary conversation" aimed at reconciling on the sensitive issue of antisemitism.

This was confirmed by the Green Party's faction leader, Bettina Jarasch, and the SPD's state chairman, Bettina König, following a bilateral meeting between the two parties. The primary focus of these discussions is expected to be combating antisemitism, protecting Jewish life, and managing how the parties and a potential coalition approach related issues.

Additionally, topics like racism, organized crime, and social cohesion will be on the agenda. The inclusion of the Left Party is controversial due to its positions on Israel and Palestine, as well as antisemitism. Recently, a Left Party campaign in Neukölln drew criticism for inviting a leader of an Arab ethnic clan involved in crime and a controversial pro-Palestinian activist who is classified as a terrorist organization by the EU.
