Zardari urges ethical AI use to boost tourism

President Asif Ali Zardari has emphasized the importance of aligning new technologies with ethical tourism practices to boost the local economy. On World Tourism Day 2026, Zardari invited international tourists to discover Pakistan's varied landscapes, emphasizing a future-focused approach that combines cutting-edge connectivity with traditional hospitality values.

He stated, "We must develop a tourism sector that embraces innovation while remaining grounded in our values of hospitality, respect, and responsibility." The digital age is transforming the way people plan and enjoy travel, according to Zardari. The year’s theme, "Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism," underscores the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on travel planning, destination discovery, and cultural experiences.

Zardari stressed the need to ensure these advancements remain responsible, inclusive, and beneficial to people and communities. Pakistan boasts a rich array of natural wonders and historical treasures, from the northern mountain ranges to the ancient Indus Valley civilizations, Islamic heritage, urban centers, deserts, and coastal regions.

However, the president highlighted that the most valuable asset remains the warmth and hospitality of the Pakistani people. Zardari highlighted that tourism can generate employment, support local businesses, and provide opportunities for young individuals and women. Simultaneously, he stressed the importance of preserving the environment, cultural heritage, and traditions for future generations.
