Zahid asks Ismail to meet Tuanku Muhriz, undangs to resolve crisis

KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has requested Negeri Sembilan menteri besar Ismail Lasim to meet with Yang Dipertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz and the four undangs in order to resolve the ongoing state crisis amicably. Zahid clarified that he did not intend to interfere in the administration of the state government, but rather sought to find a peaceful resolution that adheres to Negeri Sembilan's constitution and customs.

The well-being of the people was the top priority, stated Zahid at a press conference at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. He also acknowledged Tuanku Muhriz's dismissal of 10 state executive council members, and emphasized that the state government's primary concern should be to maintain its ability to serve the people. Zahid promised to meet with all 25 Negeri Sembilan assemblymen from BN and Perikatan Nasional at Menara Dato Onn to discuss options for resolving the crisis.

It was previously reported that the Negeri Sembilan exco had endorsed Tuanku Muhriz's removal as Yang Dipertuan Besar, despite the Attorney-General's Chambers declaring the statement invalid, as the menteri besar and exco lack the authority to make such declarations. Tuanku Muhriz subsequently revoked the appointments of the exco members for breach of oaths and allegiance to the state ruler.
