UFC provides medical update on Raoni Barcelos following scary knockout

On the main event of UFC Fight Night 289, Raoni Barcelos experienced a shocking event during a takedown by Raul Rosas Jr. As the fifth round concluded in a grueling contest, Rosas Jr. (13-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) managed to execute a trip takedown, causing Barcelos (22-6 MMA, 11-5 UFC) to lose consciousness on the canvas. Recognizing his opponent's state, Rosas Jr. halted the fight and began to celebrate.

However, Barcelos remained motionless on the ground, prompting medical personnel to enter the octagon and assess his condition. He was swiftly removed from the arena at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas and rushed to an adjacent hospital. Davi Ramos, a UFC veteran and member of Barcelos' team, announced on social media that his teammate regained consciousness and was speaking at the hospital.

The UFC issued a statement regarding Barcelos' condition, which stated that he was transported to a Level 1 trauma center for evaluation. Medical professionals conducted a CT scan and comprehensive assessment, and Barcelos is currently being monitored. He is reported to be stable, alert, and responsive, with full movement.
