Brice Turang drove in the winning run with a two-run homer in the fifth inning, securing Milwaukee's victory. This was the first game of the season with Christian Yelich as the team's captain, who was named the franchise's first captain before the game.

Despite Yelich going 0 for 2 in the game, the Brewers' defense shined, with Alec Burleson hitting a solo homer and Kyle Harrison pitching two scoreless innings. Aaron Ashby also contributed by securing his fourth save in seven opportunities. The Brewers were without infielder Joey Ortiz, who was dealing with knee, oblique, and groin issues after an MRI on Saturday.
