ST finishes seventh in Asian Games skateboard final

NAGOYA, Japan — On September 27, 2026, Thailand's 14-year-old skateboarder Wariyaraya Sukasem, known as “ST,” secured the seventh position in the women's street skateboarding final at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games. The event took place at Hall B of Aichi Sky Expo. ST scored a total of 102.85 points, with her highest run earning her 23.24 points and 79.61 points in the trick section.

China's Zhu Yuanling emerged victorious, bagging gold with 166.57 points, followed closely by Japan's Yumeka Oda, who claimed silver with 161.96 points. Cui Chenxi from China took the bronze with 156.60 points. After the final, ST admitted to still feeling nervous and under pressure, despite believing she had improved compared to her previous competitions.

She acknowledged her performance as disappointing, stating, "I gave it everything I had today, but I didn’t expect to make so many mistakes." ST explained that the result would prove to be valuable experience, saying, "I'll go back and train again, making my tricks more solid and consistent." She emphasized that even the most trained athletes can falter in competition.

ST's next ambition is to earn qualification points for the 2028 Olympic Games in the United States, focusing on each competition and improving on her Asian Games experience. Meanwhile, Thailand's BMX Freestyle Park men's team also participated in the final. Saitharn Phetnoom, nicknamed "Tao," scored 60.80 points to finish sixth, while Rungrueang Phamee, known as "Tam," achieved seventh place with 54.20 points. Japan's rider secured the gold medal in the BMX Freestyle Park men's category.
