Real Madrid warned France over Mbappe injury before Turkey match setback

Real Madrid informed France's medical team about Kylian Mbappe's injury risk prior to his subsequent injury during a match against Turkey, according to reports. French publication L'Equipe revealed that the Spanish club warned the French national team's medical staff about the striker's condition ahead of the international break, but it seems their cautionary advice was disregarded.

The injury occurred after Mbappe scored the decisive goal in France's 1-0 win over Turkey, marking the debut of new coach Zinedine Zidane on Friday. The newspaper stated that Mbappe had already been experiencing mild discomfort in the same region when he arrived at the Clairefontaine training camp earlier that week. Real Madrid had shared all relevant medical information with the French team's doctors, urging restraint with the player and hoping for his rest in preparation for the Turkey match.

However, Mbappe proceeded to play and subsequently worsened his left knee injury—identical to the one that sidelined him for several weeks last season. Media accounts suggest Mbappe will be sidelined for approximately two weeks, potentially missing the El Clasico game against Barcelona on October 25. Mbappe is considered vital for Real Madrid's resurgence following two seasons without titles, despite the team's shaky start this year.

Currently, Real Madrid trail leaders Barcelona by six points, having lost 2-1 to Atletico Madrid in the capital derby before the break, placing them fourth in La Liga. Real Madrid are scheduled to play their first match post-international break against Villarreal on October 10.
