Negeri Sembilan reps arrive at Umno HQ for talks with Zahid on crisis

On the evening of August 10, members of the Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional parties from Negeri Sembilan began arriving at the Umno headquarters in Kuala Lumpur for a meeting with Umno chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. The gathering, which aimed to address the constitutional crisis in the state, was led by Negeri Sembilan's Chief Minister Ismail Lasim.

Among the assemblymen present were Asna Amin from Lenggeng, Zaidy Abdul Kadir from Jeram Padang, Siti Nur Umaira Hasim from Labu, Faizal Ramli from Linggi, Zaifulbahri Idris from Chembong, and Saiful Yazan Sulaiman from Johol. Notably, Jalaluddin Alias, the Negeri Sembilan Umno chief and Pertang assemblyman, as well as his PAS counterpart Fairuz Isa from Serting, also attended. Additionally, Razali Abu Samah, the Wawasan Sikamat assemblyman, was spotted at the meeting.

BN and PN had formed an electoral pact during the August 1 state election, which led to their coalition taking power from Pakatan Harapan. Earlier, Umno president Zahid had promised to meet all 25 Negeri Sembilan assemblymen from both parties to discuss a resolution to the crisis.

Last week, the Negeri Sembilan executive council released a statement purportedly endorsing the removal of Tuanku Muhriz as the Yang Dipertuan Besar. However, the Attorney-General's Chambers ruled the statement invalid, as the chief minister and exco members lack the authority to make such a declaration. Tuanku Muhriz subsequently rescinded the appointment of the exco members for breaching their oaths and pledging allegiance to the state ruler.

Zahid also instructed Ismail to seek a meeting with Tuanku Muhriz and the four undangs to resolve the ongoing crisis.
