Heavy rain disrupts life across states; UP reports 10 deaths, Char Dham Yatra suspended in Uttarakhand

Heavy rainfall has caused disruptions across several Indian states since Friday, with Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand particularly affected. In Uttar Pradesh, 63 districts experienced above-normal rainfall, with 19 times the normal amount falling in a single day. The state reported 10 deaths and 17 injuries in rain-related incidents, while Lucknow recorded 125.8 mm of rainfall in 21 hours.

In Uttarakhand, heavy rain disrupted the Char Dham Yatra, which will remain suspended until September 27. Schools were closed in five districts, and the IMD issued red and orange alerts for several parts of the state. Uttarakhand also saw the season's first snowfall in the higher Kinnaur areas, while Shimla and Dharamshala received light rain.

In Jharkhand, torrential rain caused waterlogging and pushed rivers above danger levels. Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh faced disruptions to train services and several flights were cancelled. In West Bengal, rainfall intensity was expected to decrease by Sunday as the weather system moved away.
