In a recent series of events, the G25 faction has urged Negeri Sembilan's Chief Minister Ismail Lasim to appoint a new position amid his actions to remove Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir from his role as Yang Di Pertuan Besar. Ismail Lasim, a former senior government officer, was appointed as Chief Minister by Tuanku Muhriz on August 2nd.

However, his actions have been met with criticism from the G25 group, who argue that his appointment as Chief Minister is no longer valid following his signature on the proclamation demanding the removal of Tuanku Muhriz, followed by conflicting explanations about the document. Despite stating that he took an oath of office and pledged loyalty to Ismail Lasim on August 2nd, he signed the proclamation on the following day.

The G25 claims that Ismail Lasim has lost his credibility due to his attempts to remove Tuanku Muhriz as the legitimate state government, as well as his lack of consistency and failure to explain why he signed the proclamation, which he himself called invalid and without effect. Furthermore, on September 16th, Ismail Lasim changed his stance regarding the "legitimacy" of the proclamation.

The G25 asserts that all these actions are unacceptable and have led to a loss of moral standing for Ismail Lasim to lead and govern. The group also calls for the authorities to take strong action against those who engage in such acts of treason, which can be punishable by up to 40 years in prison under Section 121B of the Sedition Act, in addition to potential disciplinary action under anti-defamation laws.

The G25 urges the power holders to take firm action against those who engage in acts of treason or defamation within the conflict involving the state of Negeri Sembilan's institutions. The integrity of the federal and state constitutions, as well as the rule of law, must be upheld with utmost vigilance. Failure to do so may result in the gradual unraveling of the rule of law and national security, which is becoming increasingly evident and witnessed.

FMT has contacted the Chief Minister's office for a response. Ismail Lasim, who was also a member of the Juasseh constituency, previously stated that he signed the proclamation due to pressure and reported the matter to the police. He also stated that the document was invalid as it did not comply with the constitution of Negeri Sembilan.

However, a week later, the leader of Umno supported the statement issued by 10 ex-co members of the state government council, confirming the removal of Tuanku Muhriz as the state government. In response, the Attorney General's Office stated that the Chief Minister and the ex-co members of Negeri Sembilan do not have the authority to remove the Yang Di Pertuan Besar or declare the position vacant. Tuanku Muhriz subsequently annulled the appointment of the 10 ex-co members.
