Foreign Ministry advises Malaysians in Bangkok to stay connected with embassy

BANGKOK, September 27 – The Malaysian Foreign Ministry has advised Malaysian citizens in Bangkok to stay in contact with the country's embassy for assistance and updates, following severe flooding that impacted several districts and crucial transportation routes in the Thai capital. The ministry issued this guidance on Sunday after receiving reports of several Malaysians affected by the flooding.

The embassy in Bangkok is offering necessary support and assistance to those in need, and those requiring consular help or holding information on other affected Malaysians can reach out to the embassy via phone numbers +66 2 340 5720, +66 2 340 5731 or +66 87 028 4659, or email mwbangkok@kln.gov.my. The ministry urged Malaysian nationals who have not yet registered their presence in Thailand to do so through the e-Konsular system.

The embassy remains in constant communication with local authorities while monitoring the ongoing situation. Additionally, the ministry cautioned Malaysian residents and visitors in Bangkok to exercise caution, stay vigilant, and adhere strictly to safety directives issued by local authorities. For those traveling to Suvarnabhumi Airport, the ministry advised allowing extra travel time and arriving well before the scheduled departure, as access routes might face delays.

Persistent heavy rain since Thursday has brought widespread flooding across all 50 districts of Bangkok, according to Bernama's reports.
