Doha Debates Podcast returns for new season exploring ideas shaping our world

Qatar Foundation's Doha Debates has launched its new season of the Doha Debates Podcast, set to air 20 episodes from September 22 through February 16, 2027. The series invites esteemed global figures to engage in lengthy discussions on some of the world's most pressing challenges.

The inaugural episode, titled "Will China or the West lead the world into the future?", features Renata Ávila, Arnaud Bertrand, Isabel Hilton, and Henry Wang. They grapple with the shifting balance of global influence, technology, and international order. This episode questions whether Western dominance is truly diminishing and whether China presents a viable alternative or simply introduces a new form of dependency.

With tensions surrounding Taiwan, Ukraine, and the rapid development of artificial intelligence, the panel contemplates if multiple visions of global governance can coexist.

Henry Wang remarks that humanity is at a "crossroads," as the world transitions from a unipolar to a multipolar system. However, he stresses the urgent need for major players to collaborate. Isabel Hilton cautions against viewing the debate through a simplistic moral dichotomy, advocating for a more nuanced perspective. Arnaud Bertrand believes that the disparities between China and the West do not have to be insurmountable, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect.
