Bangkok floods prompt Thailand to declare two-day civil service holiday

Bangkok, Thailand experienced severe flooding on September 28 and 29, prompting the government to declare two-day civil service holidays in the city and three nearby provinces. The heavy rainfall, which caused nearly 300mm of rain to fall in just 48 hours, led to significant flooding on major roads, with some vehicles only partially submerged.

The flooding disrupted travel and caused road closures, prompting the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to declare the capital a disaster-affected area. Despite the flooding, the Constitutional Court proceeded with the reading of a verdict in a case related to the February election, ensuring that the election results would not be jeopardized.
